Loryn Gorsett (Violin and Viola - Suzuki and Traditional Methods)
Loryn (owner of Gorsett Violin Shop) has been teaching violin and viola in the Denver area for 35 years. In addition to private lessons, Loryn has taught group, Suzuki and chamber music classes. Loryn received Suzuki teacher training at University of Denver as well as post graduate study in viola performance there. Her extensive performance history includes playing with the Colorado Springs Symphony (and now Philharmonic), Colorado Ballet, principal violist with the Littleton Symphony Orchestra and Lone Tree Symphony, 20 years as a member of the Bravo string quartet and vast experience as a freelance professional.
Kathryn MacNary (Violin, Viola and Cello - Traditional Method)
Kathryn began her musical training on the piano at the age of 7, started violin at the age of 10, and added the viola and cello at the age of 19. She attended the University of Nebraska where she earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree. 20 years later she received her Master's degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
As a music educator, Kathryn has taught orchestra and band in Omaha, NE, Millard, NE and Denver, CO for 18 years. She has taught private strings and piano for 25 years. Kathryn's performance experience includes 30 years as violist with the Omaha Symphony. She currently plays in the Littleton Symphony and teaches private lessons.
Kate Swanson (Violin, Sukuki and Traditional) grew up learning music with the Suzuki Method, first in flute and then violin. She has played the violin for twenty years and played in many instrumental ensembles, including the Colorado Young Sinfonia, performances for local composer Francis J. Pierson, and currently the Littleton Symphony Orchestra. She has also been active in vocal ensembles specializing in Renaissance masterworks. Ms. Swanson studied Suzuki Every Child Can with Dr. William Starr, Suzuki Early Childhood Education under the program's founder Dorothy Jones, the Ward Method at University of Northern Colorado under Dr. Alise Brown, and received her Diploma in Violin Performance from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. She continued her Suzuki teacher training in violin under Kathleen Spring at the University of Denver and has been teaching since 2011.
